Julie Anne Smith, A.K.A. Julianne Moor is a Hollywood actor and writer who has received critical recognition for her talents. Sagittarius Born in North Carolina on 3 December 1960. She's the oldest of three children, and was the daughter of Peter Moore Smith who was the paratrooper. The mother of her child Anne is a psychotherapist. Her parents are of English and Scottish descent. In the course of her father's employment, the Moore family moved a lot and she had to work hard to make friendships or maintain ones. Moore began acting in plays when she moved with her family members to Germany. She furthered her education through Boston University, graduating in 1983 with a B.F.A. thesis in Theater. Moore, who graduated from the college at the time of her graduation in New York and started her profession as an off-Broadway actor after moving to New York. Moore made her debut on screen in 1985 when she appeared on an episode from The Edge of Night. It was in 1986 that she made her breakthrough when she portrayed the role as Sabrina Hughes as well as Frannie Hughes in The World turns. In 1988, she was an actor in the show, and won a Daytime Emmy Award. Her first movie appearance was Tales from the Darkside: The Movie. The film she later called a bad low-budget production. Short Cuts (1993), 3 Women (1997), and both were directed with Robert Altman. Her role in critically acclaimed short-cuts (1993) earned her several nominations. Moore was first cast in the role of a leading lady in Safe (1996). Steven Spielberg gave Moore her debut lead role in the film Safe (1995). In 1997, the career of the actress surpassed a crucial point. She was tapped to play the lead role in Jurassic Park: The Lost World. The film was one 1997's most successful movies. She was awarded an SAG award for her role in Magnolia. In 2002, she co-starred with The Hours which got nominated for nine Academy Awards with Nicole Kidman as well as Meryl Streep.
